The Freedom SIPP
The Freedom SIPP
The Freedom SIPP is the brand name of a SIPPs provider who hit difficulties in 2009.If you have funds in a Freedom SIPP we can give you the advice you need.
What happened to The Freedom SIPP?
The Freedom SIPP Limited (“TFSL”), a self-invested personal pension operator was wound up in the High Court on a petition issued by the Inland Revenue for non payment of tax on 14 October 2009. The FSA supported the Inland Revenue's position as it considered that investors’ assets were at risk.PricewaterhouseCoopers were appointed as the liquidators, and they have appointed the pensions consultancy Mattioli Woods plc to help them wind up the operation in an orderly manner. If you are a Freedom SIPP member you should have had a letter from Price WaterhouseCooper in late January 2010 followed by another from Mattoli Woods suggesting you seek independent financial advice.
Action you need to take
In line with your letter from Mattoli Woods you should seek Independent Financial Advice immediately in connection with your Freedom SIPP. Without alternate instruction from you your fund will be transferred to Mattoli Woods. We can help you consider a wider range of options and select the most appropriate home for your funds.
